How to build a bike rack

Firstly you have to decide what type of bike rack it is you want to build. Once you’ve decided on that browse for bike rack plans for the type you want to build.

The next step is to get the tools and materials needed. When buying material always buy more than you need the first time around. There is nothing like starting a project and realizing that you need to go back to the store or order more parts because you forgot something or didn’t have enough of another part.

Plan to set aside a couple of hours for your project and make sure that you get some help if you need it.

Be careful when drilling & cutting wood, PVC or welding metals. Make sure that some one is around to check on you in case the worst happens.

Once you’ve finished your project test it out. Make sure its not too woobly because you don’t want your bike to fall off.

Now take pictures of it and send them to me so that I can post them here!

Gosh! This is an excellent article. You have saved me so much time! I would have just started buying stuff with no idea what I was going to make. Wow!

Not sure if that was sarcastic or not 😛 The point of the article was to link to the bike rack plans I’ve drawn up or made. After looking through that category it has got a little cluttered. I think I’ll have to clean it up a bit or make another post with all of my bike rack plans.

These sort of projects alway take longer than expected. Is in not easier to buy one?
